Day 16 up early for a game drive around Etosa, there was lots of wildlife. We almost thought there was going to be a lion kill but she was too lazy to chase the zebra. Back at the camp we had a free afternoon chilling around the pool. The best thing about this camp was the waterhole which we spent all evening again around.
Day 17 On our way to Spitzkoppe, we stopped off to look at 60 thousand seals (cape cross seal colony) which where very smelly, but wow what a site. It was freezing by the coast and also the first time we saw clouds in Africa.
The bush camp we stayed in that night was more like Arizona or the Grand Canyon than Africa, It truly spectacular. No facilities at this camp but we are use to it by now. Most opted to sleep on the rocks but due to several reasons manly sleeping bag being crap and scared of snakes Matt and I decided to pitch our tent. Dinner was again amazing tonight and the ladies on cooking duty surprised us by making a cake! The Milky Way so clear and the moon rising over the large rocks was a first for me.

Day 18 Once at Swakopmund town we stayed in our last hostel for the tour, Amanpuri hostel. We would be here for the next two nights and we were all please on how nice the hostel was. You could arrange to go sand boarding as the desert surrounds the town and go quad biking up the dunes. We went to a local pizza place that was recommended for dinner and who should we bump into but Charley Boorman which was very random, he was telling us that he was on a bike tour and does it once a year. The bunk beds where exceptionally comfortable at this hostel I didn’t think I would ever be able to get out of them….
Day 19 We explored the town today which was nice to walk about and not be on the truck for the day, We pushed the boat out and paid for some laundry as it was a nice change from washing our clothes in the sink and smelling of shampoo all the time. We all opted for a take away that night as it was to cold to walk into town.
Day 20 We crossed the tropic of Capricorn today on our way to camp which was in a place called Soliter. It was just on the edge of the dunes as the next day we had to get up early and clime one for sun rise. I have now got use to the dreaded tent, we have also got it under 5 minutes to put it up or down which is handy when you over sleep and only have 15 minutes before the truck leaves and its pitch black. It also seems to have got more comfortable, we are lucky as we have two sleeping matt’s, as there is fewer people than normal. My £5 sleeping bag from go outdoors was a big mistake I have to sleep with the majority of my wardrobe on just we keep warm, and it takes a good hour for my feet to defrost in the morning.
